Welcome to Term 2 2017 - 18

Welcome to Term 2 in Oak, where children continue grow in confidence and experience, as they work hard to show all their fabulous learning. Becoming the oldest children in school brings certain responsibilities and privileges, which Year 5 & 6 particularly enjoy. As we focus on setting a good example to younger children in our behaviour and attitude, we endeavour to demonstrate the core values of our Circle of Belief, along with enthusiasm and commitment.

Our teachers are Mrs Amey, Mrs Smith and Miss Olsen, with support from Mrs Moon and Mr Wright.

In Maths we will be concentrating on Calculating and Fractions, as we lay down further foundations for problem solving and reasoning.

In English we will continue to use IPEELL to help us with our writing, linking this with our topic work in other subjects. With our new 'Active English' programme, we are working hard to master grammar, punctuation and spelling rules.

Our Foundation Curriculum is based around the Frozen Kingdom of the Arctic and Antarctic - take a look at the Cornerstones curriculum overview in the documents section.

This term we will be swimming on Mondays and doing PE on Wednesdays, but please make sure PE kits are in school every day for any extra sessions we might have.

We had a wonderful time in Oak, when we opened our classroom for parents and carers to come in and see what we had been learning in our Pharoahs project. Thank you to all who came to share in our learning - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
