Committee members help shape the direction of FEWS, work together to make things
happen, and support other parents and carers to get involved. You don’t need to have lots of
time — just a willingness to contribute ideas, share the workload and be part of the team.
Most importantly, we are a team that works together and shares responsibilities.

A committee member might:
*Attend committee meetings and contribute ideas and opinions.
*Bring new ideas, skills, contacts or enthusiasm to the group.
*Help plan and organise fundraising and community events.
*Take responsibility for particular tasks or events alongside other volunteers.
*Help at events, for example setting up, running stalls, serving refreshments or clearing away.
*Help with practical tasks behind the scenes, such as sourcing donations, creating posters or contacting local businesses.
*Support the school directly, for example by listening to children read or helping on school trips when opportunities arise.
*Work with school staff to understand priorities and decide how FEWS funds can have the greatest impact.
*Help decide how funds are spent in line with the FEW's agreed aims and values.
*Share information with parents and carers about upcoming events, fundraising and what their support has achieved.
*Listen to the school community and help identify ways that FEWS can support pupils.
*Celebrate successes and thank volunteers, helping create a positive and welcoming FEWS culture.
*Help recruit and welcome new parents and carers to get involved.
