Collective Worship is an important part of daily life at East Wold C of E Primary School.   It is a time when the whole school gathers together to share and explore our Christian values and develop a sense of awe and wonder.   Each term we focus on a different Christian value to form the basis of our worship.  We also celebrate Christian festivals during the year, such as Harvest, Advent, Christmas, Lent  and Easter.  Our  worship is inclusive and is a time where both children and adults of all faiths and no faith can participate actively in the worship or use it reflectively.

Each act of worship follows this structure:

• Gathering - The children invite everyone to join our worship with a call to worship and the peace is shared.  A candle is lit.
• Engaging -  We share a Bible reading or activity to engage the children and adults with the Christian message.
• Responding - The children and adults are invited to discuss, share, reflect, pray or sing.
• Sending out - The message of the worship is shared again and everyone is given a reflections to consider.  How will this affect their behaviour from now onwards?

Our Collective Worships are led by our Headteacher, teaching staff, children and visitors from local churches.  We also attend All Saints' Church in Legbourne at Harvest time, Christmas, Easter and the Year 6 Graduation.

Celebration worship takes place weekly and is a time when parents and friends of the school are invited to attend.  This is an opportunity to share and recognise achievements both in and out of school.

Collective Worship is a legal requirement, in accordance with the Education reform Act of 1988.  Parents may, if they wish, withdraw their children from the arrangements for worship.  Any such requests should be made in writing to the Headteacher.
